Slay the Spire 2 drew 430,456 concurrent players at launch—over five times Marathon's 88,337. Mega Crit joked about Marathon, then co-founder Casey Yano apologized, saying the quip “seems a bit meaner than intended” after they didn’t expect to top them. If indies can do this, who owns launch month?
